I am always drawn to photographing athletes because of their deep love for their sport and how it is integral to their lifestyle. The Wizdoms, the Washington Wizards' senior dance team, are a perfect example of how passion can shape a person’s life. The individuals on this team have been dancing since they were young and continue to pursue their passion, balancing their day jobs with their love for performance. Despite their busy lives, they return to the art they cherish, bringing joy to thousands of fans.
As a young photographer, I am inspired by the energy and light they exude. The team consists of men and women over the age of 50 who perform at Wizards home games, proving that age is no barrier to doing what you love. Since their debut on November 24, 2018, they have electrified the crowd with their fun and dynamic performances. Some members were once professional dancers for sports teams and have continued their legacy by joining the Wizdoms. Their passion, enthusiasm, and dedication inspire people of all ages.
